ChikënFist – Cookies For Dinner

Hello Everyone!

As you might or might not know, I’m involved (with collaborator Vince Rostkowski) in a 2-person experimental toybox-rock band known simply as ChikënFist. Well on October 21st we released our 2nd EP, COOKIES FOR DINNER, available on BandCamp!

This EP is the summation of years of work. Literally countless hours have been spent trying to make this sound as good as it does, and we’re incredibly proud of the result. We’ve used a total of 44 instruments/sounds on the EP, to give you an idea of how absurd some of these arrangements are and how tricky the mixing process was. We also brought in some guest musicians on the title track. Our friend Paul Trahey contributed vocals and banjo, as well as his lyrical skills, and our friend Beth McElroy contributed marimba and backing vocals. We highlight some of their handywork in the bonus track, Tom’s Thoughts.

For only $5 you can support weird independent art (the best kind). So if you like songs about Marty McFly narrowly avoiding incest, or the philosophy of baked goods, DuckTales, or the Cookie Monster as voiced by Tom Waits, check it out and share it with your friends!

Adventures in Vlogging

I’m happy to announce the beginning of a new adventure: YOUTUBE.  Yes, yes, YouTube is nothing new.  It’s been around for years, and even my channel has been around for a while, but not like this.  I’ve made the commitment to regularly produce content.  Vlogs, short films, and original songs are all on the way.

“New songs, you say?”

Yes! I’ll actually be using YouTube to branch out and find my own audience, interested in the same things I am.  Most of the new songs that will be posted will be “fandom” songs.  That is, songs about nerdy things, such as Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, etc.  Things that could hopefully branch out living their own little viral life in microcosms of the internet.

“Where might I view such interesting spectacles?”

Why, on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL, where else?  Click the link or follow the video below and SUBSCRIBE to stay up-to-date on Films/Music/Vlogs!

OH, and I forgot to mention I can also now be found on TWITTER.

Dreaming

HELLO!

I am pleased to announce that my first solo EP, “Dreaming,” is AVAILABLE NOW on BandCamp!

Words cannot express how excited I am to share this with you (but that won’t stop me from trying). These five songs have been picked out of a gaggle of demos (some of which you’ll hear in the future), and have evolved over the past years. This EP initiates a new artistic phase, setting a standard for quality and diversity for upcoming musical projects. Countless hours of work have gone into writing/recording/mixing/mastering, and I hope it shows.

The price is $5, or more if you decide it’s worth more. So for the price of a cup of starbucks you could support independent arts! And if you don’t like this one, DON’T FRET. I’m working on several projects this year and will be updating soon to tell you more about them.

Letter Performance

Hello 2014!

Hello friends!

Letter Performance

Early rehearsal of “Mr. K.”

It’s shaping up to be a really big year for me, beginning with the creation of my own website!  I have a lot of interesting projects in the works, and I’ll try to stay fairly regular with updates on my projects.  Here’s a general overview of what you can look forward to seeing:

  • To Mr. K. (Regarding the Fall)  –  This handmade film performance examines our perception of things on a micro level, trying to interpret the internal, our emotions, in a live, abstract fashion.
  • God Complex  –  An installation about the egocentricity of man, which examines our perception of things on a macro level.  Consists of digital projection on a mirror mosaic, within an isolated space.  Premiering in MassArt’s Bakalar Gallery this May.
  • The Sound out of Space  –  This 4-track EP is an audio-drama musical, set in space.  A technological malfunction initiates an onslaught of psychotic episodes that causes the characters to end up in a life-and-death struggle.  This project features the voice talents of Vince Rostkowski, Alessandra Gabbianelli, and myself.
  • ChikënFist’s Cookies for Dinner EP  –  The second musical installment of my “toybox-rock” project, ChikënFist.  This EP features songs about philosophy, time-travel, and cookies (with a special guest appearance by Cookie Monster).
  • The Idolater’s Handbook  –  In this short fiction, the protagonist finds a mysterious book in his grandparent’s attic that leads him on an adventure with a dire conclusion.  Heavily inspired by a recent “Lovecraft” binge of mine.

I’m also working on other projects simultaneously, including a script for a graphic novel, another short story, scripts for short films, and personal music, so keep checking back here for more news!

With Love,
Dwight
